Here’s how a Walmart shopper just saved over $380 on an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080

Walmart's open-box stock is heavily discounted, and one lucky gamer found an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 for just $859.99, saving $384.

In a story that will both impress and make you jealous, one lucky Walmart shopper found that, due to the open-box/returns policy, you can snag a brand new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 for well under MSRP, if someone happens to return one in your area.

In our Nvidia DLSS 4 does a lot of heavy lifting on these new cards, with the exciting multi frame gen tech only compatible with the new GPUs.

Over on the Nvidia Reddit page, rizzy posted that they had discovered an open-box/returned RTX 5080 in their local Walmart, priced at just $895.99. The specific card in question was a PNY GeForce RTX 5080 ARBG OC.

They snapped an image of the box, which is priced at $895.99, showing that the GPU had been reduced by $384, suggesting an MSRP of $1,279.99. This is an especially deep discount for a returned product, but it makes for incredible value when you consider how expensive RTX 5000 series cards are right now, mostly due to scarcity.

In other images of the card included in the post, it’s shown that the seal on the anti-static bag isn’t broken, and the clear film stickers on the card itself are still in place. Upon hooking the graphics card up to their gaming PC, it’s shown in GPU-Z that the card is legit, and even has the right amount of ROPs, 112.

While exciting, it’s not recommended that you go racing off to your local Walmart to try and find a returned card for cheap, as it’s likely very rare that these cards are returned, let alone in such pristine condition.

Rather hilariously, there are endless comments on this thread from understandably jealous gamers who wish they were so lucky. If you want to try and find a similar card in your area, check our RTX 5080 stock guide for a look at availability from multiple retailers.
