Monster Hunter Wilds has a cheater problem. Now that Capcom has launched Title Update 1, some players are altering files to put themselves at the top of leaderboards or massively inflate the rewards you can obtain from quests, and it’s making the game harder for everyone. Luckily for us, however, Capcom is quick on the draw and already advising you how to get around playing with cheaters, but these data modified quests are proving to be a major issue.
If you’ve been grinding for rewards in RPG completely “unplayable.”
“We have confirmed the unauthorized modification of game data in Monster Hunter Wilds for High Rank environment Investigations, Field Surveys, and more,” Capcom writes. “Modified data can interfere with normal gameplay and even render the game unplayable. If you suspect a quest has been modified, please do not play it, or stop playing it immediately.”

Capcom even provides a chart detailing the maximum number of monsters and rewards you can find in Wilds, making it easy to figure out if you’re in a modified quest. The developer also says it has “additional countermeasures” planned in future updates to prevent you from being implicated. After all, the last thing you want is to accidentally be a part of a hacked quest, get the rewards, and be banned for cheating before you realize what’s happened.
Capcom adds that it cannot individually determine whether a quest has been modified, and that it is unable to provide for any problems that arise due to data manipulation. While Capcom is working on extra ways to separate unsuspecting players from being implicated with cheaters, the team has some advice. If you think you’re in a data modified quest, quit it immediately and restart the game. Autosave only takes effect when the quest results screen shows up, so you can avoid getting any of the boosted rewards and getting in trouble.
While you dive into all the new challenges Capcom has to offer, make sure you brush up on the best Monster Hunter Wilds armor sets and the skills they offer, which are equally as vital to success.
