As a thank you for the colossal launch of the Steam demo, Mecha Break developer Amazing Seasun Games is giving all players some free in-game currency. The multiplayer mech game’s demo quickly started contending with Valve stalwarts as soon as it dropped, and is still pulling in very respectable numbers. Even so, the game currently has an incredibly low rating from players, sitting at ‘Mostly Negative’ on Steam.
When the new fourth biggest game on Valve’s platform, raking in a staggering 317,522 concurrent players. It was bigger than Marvel Rivals, Rust, and Apex Legends, but couldn’t dethrone PUBG, Dota 2, or Counter-Strike 2.
As a thank you for these player numbers in the multiplayer game, developer Amazing Seasun Games is giving everyone on each platform 1,000 Corite for free. One of the in-game currencies, Corite is the version that you can use for things like mechs and other cosmetics.
It’s not all sunshine for Mecha Break, though. In the weeks since the demo’s launch, reviews have been extremely negative – of the 13,000 reports so far, only 34% are positive. Many players aren’t pleased with Mecha Break’s monetization and progression systems, voicing discontent with how prevalent these are in many aspects of the game. It’s worth noting that some of the launch reviews were negative due to server problems caused by sheer demand, but these have now been fixed.
