GTA 6 gets a not so cryptic tease from none other than John Cena

Wrestler John Cena has posted a cryptic picture of Grand Theft Auto 6 to his Instagram, right as he turned heel at Elimination Chamber.

Renowned Command and Conquer fan and WWE wrestler John Cena has dropped an incredibly cryptic GTA 6 image on his Instagram. The actor, professional wrestler, and Make A Wish granter hasn’t said anything about potential involvement with Rockstar’s next Grand Theft Auto game, so this mysterious post to his social media could mean quite literally anything, but one theory remains on top: he’s a memer.

Last week at WWE Elimination Chamber, John Cena turned heel. The wrestler tricked Cody Rhodes, aligning himself with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and setting up quite the showdown for WrestleMania 41 later this year. But enough about that, because Cena appears to have marked the occasion by posting about Grand Theft Auto 6, for some reason.

The prevailing theory is that Cena is leaning into the “We got [blank] before GTA 6 meme,” poking fun at the fact that during the 12-year wait for the sandbox game. Either way he’s playing into the joke, because his Instagram bio reads: “These images will be posted without explanation, for your interpretation. Enjoy.”

Cena’s no stranger to acting on the big or small screens and he’s got quite the talent for comedic roles, so I’d love to see him pop up in the new Grand Theft Auto. He’s great in Peacemaker, Ricky Stanicky, Barbie, and even during his incredibly brief stint on The Bear. I could easily see him fitting right in with GTA’s over-the-top satire, even if it is a bit of a pipe dream.

The wrestler and actor isn’t a stranger to videogames, either, appearing in Mortal Kombat 1, Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff, and Marvel Avengers Academy. He’s even a staunch Command and Conquer player, which comes as a huge surprise to me. In an old interview with UGO he waxes lyrical about his PC specs, and says Command and Conquer is “the very essence of what I stand for: build a huge army, and destroy a lot of shit.”
