Escape From Tarkov Steam edition is coming, as BSG sets launch window for 1.0

The long-awaited Escape From Tarkov Steam version is inbound, as Battlestate also confirms that EFT 1.0 will arrive in the coming months.

The Escape From Tarkov Steam release will finally make one of the original and longest-running extraction FPS games more widely and easily available – if EFT is going to get bigger and break out from its relative niche, it needs to hit Valve’s store. In a new update, Battlestate explains that the EFT Steam edition is on the way, and that it will arrive after the shooter hits a more complete 1.0 version. With rivals like Gray Zone Warfare, Delta Force, and Hunt Showdown 1896 all competing for the extraction player base, BSG also says that Escape From Tarkov Arena will come to Steam, and hints at the release window for 1.0.

In a livestream from Friday April 18, Battlestate outlines the imminent future for FPS, starting in May, when BSG will introduce balancing changes, visual optimizations, and a new event. In June, EFT’s audio engine and AI will be improved, and in July, there will be overhauled gunshot sound effects and another new event.

In summer 2025, Battlestate will also release Escape From Tarkov 1.0. The developer doesn’t give a precise date, only the broad, summer launch window, but does confirm that spin-off shooter Escape From Tarkov Arena will come to Steam before the release of the 1.0 edition of the base game. As for the Escape From Tarkov Steam launch itself, that will arrive at some point after 1.0, though again, BSG does not confirm precisely when.

So, in summary, there are three more EFT updates on the way. After that, EFT Arena will hit Steam at the same time as the base game finally graduates to 1.0. Sometime later, when 1.0 is out in the wild, Escape From Tarkov itself will come to Steam – and Battlestate also says that the Steam version will be complete with the new PvE mode. All being well, it will push EFT into even more of the mainstream, and make it simpler for would-be players to give it a shot.
