The Oblivion Remastered minimum requirements are a touch higher than most modern 3D games, but this can be attributed to it being developed in Unreal Engine 5. You’ll need an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 5700 alongside an Intel Core i7 6800K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X.
On the RAM front, you’ll need 16GB, which isn’t always a given on older or budget gaming PCs. Luckily, upgrading to the best gaming RAM is relatively easy and one of the cheapest upgrades you can currently invest in.
As for the Oblivion Remastered recommended specs, these take a hefty jump up, but aren’t out of reach for gaming PCs and laptops built or released in the last few years.
You’ll need an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT alongside an Intel Core i5 10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X. The RAM demands also double, meaning you’ll need 32GB.
Finally, we have the Oblivion Remastered size, which comes in at a remarkable 125GB. For a modern open-world RPG, this size might not seem too bad, but the original Oblivion GOTY edition is currently occupying less than 6GB on my hard drive, so it’s quite the increase. There is no mention of needing an SSD, but it would be wise to use one of the best SSDs for gaming to improve your in-game loading times and general speeds.
By comparison, Steam has the original games system requirements listed as a 2GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor, 128MB Direct 3D compatible video card, 512MB of RAM, and just 4.6GB of hard drive space. If this doesn’t show how far we’ve come in almost 20 years, I’m not sure what will.
