How to make money in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

There are five primary methods of making money in Assassin’s Creed Shadows:

  • Smuggling resources
  • Kakurega contracts
  • Looting
  • Side quests
  • Helix store

Assassin's Creed Shadows Mon Money: Naoe smuggling a stack of resources

Smuggling

The closest thing you’ll get to ive income is taking advantage of your Hideout, but you’ll sometimes get a few Mon thrown into the chest back at base for good measure. Just make sure you’re targeting ‘High Wealth’ areas for maximum returns.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Mon Money: a money-making contract on the map

Contracts

Contracts can be taken out from the various Kakuregas you find on your journey – helpful considering Kakuregas cost a hefty 800 Mon a pop to open. These contracts are both region and season-locked, so you won’t be able to farm a ton of Mon, but they are the most consistent way of making money. Your earning potential will also scale as you venture into new regions, so get exploring.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Mon Money: selling valuables to a vendor

Looting

While you can loot Mon from the myriad chests, casks, corpses, etc. strewn across the land, you’ll oftentimes find yourself picking up valuables that can be pawned off to the numerous vendors you’ll encounter. They typically don’t sell for much, so consider them a pleasant little extra on the side of your other hustles.

AC Shadows Mon Money: side quest showing money as a reward

Side quests

Several AC Shadows side quests offer cash for your coffers in return for completing them, alongside XP and other rewards. Some side quests are, naturally, quicker to complete than others, but don’t expect big payouts.

AC Shadows Mon Money: the AC Helix Store

Helix Store

Though we would strongly advise against using your Helix Credits – paid for or otherwise – to buy up in-game currency, it’s still an option so we’re (begrudgingly) noting it. The AC Helix Store offers two Mon bundles: 4,000 Mon for 1,000 Helix Credits, or 12,000 Mon for 2,000 Helix Credits. Again, we’d recommend putting your pennies elsewhere, as using the above methods should let you accrue a healthy Mon balance nice and quickly.
